چکیده
Introducing the concept of programmability paves way for designing complex and intelligent materials, where materials’ structural information is pre-encoded in components that build system. With highly tunable interactions, DNA-coated particles are promising building elements to program materials at colloidal scale, but several grand challenges have prevented them from assembling into desired structures phases. In recent years, field has seen significant progress tackling these challenges, which led realization numerous dynamics previously inaccessible, including desirable diamond structure, useful photonic various other applications. We review this exciting progress, focusing detail on how colloids can be designed a sophisticatedly tailored surface, shape, patches, as well controlled kinetics, key factors allow one principle limitless number structures. also share our view may directed future.

Crystallization of DNA-coated colloids
DNA-coated colloids hold great promise for self-assembly of programmed heterogeneous microstructures, provided they not only bind when cooled below their melting temperature, but also rearrange so that aggregated particles can anneal into the structure that minimizes the free energy. Unfortunately, DNA-coated colloids generally collide and stick forming kinetically arrested random aggregates wh...
متن کاملTowards self-replicating materials of DNA-functionalized colloids†‡
We report the first results of ongoing research that involves the creation of a new class of non-biological materials designed to self-replicate and, as a result, to grow exponentially. We propose a system design that exploits the strong specificity and thermal reversibility of the interactions between colloidal particles functionalized with complementary single-stranded DNA ‘sticky ends’. Here...

Recently discovered synthesis of unusual curved nanoporous silica shapes, such as rods, discoids, spheres, tubes, and hollow helicoids, have brought forth the problem of understanding the formation mechanism. Knowledge of such mechanism may lead to the ability to control the nanoporous shapes. This is important in a variety of applications and new technologies where nanostructure and geometry d...

متن کاملSelf-Assembled DNA Nanotubes
DNA, well-known as the predominant molecule for storage of genetic information in biology and biochemistry, has also been recognized as a useful building material in the field of nanotechnology. DNA provides basic building blocks for constructing functionalized nanostructures with four major features: molecular recognition, self-assembly, programmability, and predictable nanoscale geometry. The...
